We source coffee from smallholder farms and large estates, selecting beans with screen sizes of 17 and 18 for consistency.
Conab (Brazil’s national agricultural agency) projected a rise in arabica coffee production in 2020 to 47.37 million 60kg bags from 34.29 million in 2019. Robusta production, however, declined to 14.25 million bags from 15 million.
Brazil’s coffee-growing area expanded by 1.4% to 2.16 million hectares as 300,000 hectares of newly planted trees reached production.
Coffee was not native to the Americas. Brazil’s first coffee bush was planted in 1727 by Francisco de Melo Palheta, who, according to legend, smuggled seeds from French Guiana after seducing the governor’s wife.
Our coffee bag packaging is made of LDPE4 recyclable bags
Is LDPE recyclable?
LDPE is recyclable. However, rigid LDPE products are much easier to recycle than flexible and soft versions of plastic. Therefore, some local authorities only accept solid and rigid LDPE items for recycling and not soft types, such as cling film.
Where can I recycle this plastic if our local council will not?
You can recycle soft plastic LDPE4 (plastic bags, wrappers, etc.) at many major UK supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Co-op, that have in-store recycling points.
