Our single origin, medium roast Ethiopian coffee has notes of malted milk, warm spices and a gently boozy finish. Sourced from smallholder farms in the Lekempte region of western Ethiopia, it comes from the 2,300-member Bulechala co-operative, which grows classic Ethiopian Heirloom Arabica across 1,600 hectares.
Ethiopia is the birthplace of Arabica coffee, with legends tracing its discovery to the 9th-century goatherder Kaldi in the region of Kaffa. Today, Ethiopia is Africa’s largest coffee producer and ranks seventh globally, contributing about 3% of world supply. Coffee underpins the country’s economy—supporting roughly 15 million people yet around half of the harvest is enjoyed domestically. Production remains largely traditional, with most cultivation and drying still done by hand.
